The situation
Mind Energy had a strategic ambition to establish a domain-based operating model and significantly automate its customer gas business. At the outset, processes were largely undocumented, critical data was carried through spreadsheets, and there was limited shared understanding of how the new team model should work in practice.

The assignment
As Program Lead for the gas business transformation, Simon created the integrated overview, governance and delivery rhythm across commercial, technical and organisational work. The programme involved more than 30 specialists and senior stakeholders, with the full Management Team and CEO acting as Steering Committee.

What was delivered
Led the proof of concept, procurement and implementation of a new contract management solution.
Designed an event-driven integration setup to support contract, pricing and deal capture flows.
Established and matured several domain teams with clear roles, backlogs, Agile events and ways of working.
Mapped and documented the end-to-end processes across the gas value chain.
Drove alignment between the speculative and customer-facing gas desks on shared tooling and integration principles.
Expanded market access for the customer gas desk and managed complex business, IT and external dependencies.

The change
The programme established a clear path for replacing spreadsheet-based administration with automated contract, pricing and deal capture flows. It also created practical lighthouse teams for the new operating model and aligned the gas desks around a shared technology direction. Several flows were still being implemented at programme close, so the lasting result was both concrete delivery and a much stronger foundation for continued execution.
